These polyanthus primroses belong to an old seed strain from the 1940s.  They vary in color from bright red to scarlet, cherry, and vermillion.  There's no telling what yours might be, but whatever shade of red, you can't help but be pleased.  These primroses grow from 6 to 8 inches tall in moist, well-drained soil, and  partial shade.  They bloom in late winter to mid-spring and are an ideal candidate for the border, woodland, or even a pot.   Zones 3-8.
